Our Work and How We Help
Education
-
Our award winning education and research team conducts polls and research to generate statistics that allows us to focus our mission on various topics that need immediate attention such as with bullying, dating abuse, and eating disorders.
-
We create, maintain, and update several educational programs that can be used for school events, workshops, and at support groups.
-
We host over 50 educational workshops each year, both in person and online where guests can learn about mental health, warning signs of suicide, suicide prevention, various mental health triggers and relapsing, how to help teens and young adults through various topics, and understanding self esteem and self worth. These workshops are hosted by the One Life Project and often include speakers from various backgrounds.
-
We utilize social media and are large following to help educate youth and adults in hopes of ending the mental health stigma.
-
Our website is also an educational tool, and between our website and our various educational written material, we hold over 1,000 educational and informational tools.
-
Through school and college speaking events and workshops, we are allowed to spread our mission and help educate teens and youth.
Support
-
The One Life Project is home to a non-emergency helpline. By emailing helpline@projectonelife.org, someone from our team well respond within sixty minutes. We allow all types of emails from any individual or group. Whether you have questions about your own mental health, questions on how to support someone you care about, general educational questions, are looking for specific resources for yourself or others, want to share your story with us, or just want someone to talk to so you don't feel alone, our email helpline is there. Most emailers receive a response from a One Life Project employee or volunteer within minutes during the hours of 7am and 11pm. Staff that work the helpline include people from various backgrounds and they all must complete our ten hour helpline training course. For all emergencies and urgent situations, the One Life Project partners with the Crisis Text Line and National Suicide Lifeline to help these individuals. We also have a live chat option for the helpline that occurs during certain hours during the day on our website.
-
The One Life Project hosts an online support group that is active on Facebook and Instagram and has thousands of members. The group allows any individuals from around the world to ask questions and post information regarding mental health, seeking help, and coping methods.. The group is monitored 24/7.
-
We host in person support groups and workshops throughout the year at our regional offices. These groups allow guests to speak in a non-judgement zone and talk about any issues they want to talk about. These groups are run by One Life Project staff, community counselors, and many times first responders.
-
We partner with many school districts and college campuses, as well as some city departments to provide mental health signage and resources so that the signage and resources can be easily seen and accessible for all youth.
-
Through our Spread Kindness initiative, we partner with many schools and groups each year to help promote positivity and love instead of bullying and hate.
Advocacy
-
The One Life Project is home to the Spread Kindness Platform, a viral page on our website that allows anyone to share stories of encouragement, love, strength, growth, or recovery. Posts can be named or done anonymously. Many guests return to the page daily for hopeful and positive stories and messages.
-
Through social media, we consistently advocate for and support those who are currently struggling. We also work to spread kindness both in person and online to help combat bullying, harassment, and hate. Social media is our biggest tool for advocacy as we are able to reach millions of people very quickly. Our main goal in advocacy is to help foster a world where youth and adults can be themselves without fear of judgment.
-
Through community events such as with fundraisers, suicide prevention walks, and speaking events, we are able to help advocate for those whose voices are not yet strong enough.
Activism
-
The One Life Project partners with hundreds of community leaders, politicians, celebrities, and influencers each year to ensure that youth mental health, human rights, and our school systems remain a top priority for elected officials and community leaders.
-
By hosting walks and rallies, our staff and volunteers put in countless hours to make sure that leaders hear the voices of our youth and work to promote change to help them live in a world that is free from judgement and bullying.
-
We partner with many schools and colleges to ensure that students are receiving the proper health education and that topics of mental health, self love, and recognizing warning signs are included in health class curriculum.
