Documentary to Be Filmed on OLP Founder Alexander Kovarovic and the Growth of a Youth Mental Health Movement

Multi-State Documentary Production to Chronicle a Decade of Mental Health Advocacy, Survival, and Community Impact, and Follow the Person Who Created It

BOSTON, MA -- The One Life Project is happy to announce plans to begin production on Never Alone, a feature documentary that will tell the story of founder and Executive Director Alexander Kovarovic, his personal experiences with mental health struggles and suicide, and the decade-long journey that led to the creation and growth of one of the Northeast's largest and most emerging youth mental health organizations.

The documentary, scheduled for release as part of the One Life Project's 10-year anniversary celebration, will be filmed throughout 2026 across multiple states and communities connected to both Kovarovic's life and the organization's history.

Never Alone will premiere on Saturday, February 6th, 2027, at 7:00 PM EST, with distribution scheduled through television news partners, including select NBC News broadcasts, online media outlets, several newspapers, social media platforms, and the One Life Project's digital channels. A public screening and community viewing opportunity will also be announced in the coming months.

The project is being produced through a collaborative effort involving TV and online news production teams, independent filmmakers, and media professionals. Portions of the documentary will be filmed by both independent documentary crews and news media partners documenting the story as it unfolds.

Produced in a documentary-style format, Never Alone will follow Kovarovic's story from his childhood in Gloversville, New York, through years of mental health challenges, the creation of online support communities that reached millions of people and kick-started the idea of a nonprofit organization, and the eventual founding of what became the One Life Project, which now operates 10 offices across 11+ states.

Long before the One Life Project existed, Kovarovic created online communities focused on mental health support, including a Facebook support group that grew to more than 38,000 members. During that same period, a personal social media post discussing suicide and self-harm reached millions of people and generated thousands of responses from individuals sharing their own struggles. Kovarovic gained over 1.1 million followers in one night. According to organizers, those experiences helped lay the foundation for what would eventually become the One Life Organization and later the One Life Project.

The documentary will feature interviews with Kovarovic, members of OLP's leadership team, volunteers, supporters, community partners, educators, advocates, and individuals who have witnessed the organization's growth over the last decade. The film will also explore the personal sacrifices, emotional challenges, leadership pressures, and defining moments that accompanied the organization's development.

According to project organizers, the film is not intended to be a traditional nonprofit documentary. Instead, Never Alone aims to tell a deeply personal story about loneliness, survival, purpose, connection, and the impact that one person's decision to keep going can have on thousands of others.

"People often see the events, offices, social media campaigns, and public work, but they rarely see the personal journey that led to those things," said Sophie Park, Executive Director of New England Operations. "This documentary is about the reality behind the mission, the struggles that almost ended the story before it began, and how connection and purpose helped transform that experience into something bigger than one person."

Filming is expected to take place throughout 2026 in locations significant to both Kovarovic's personal story and the One Life Project's history and current day operations, including:

Several filming locations will coincide with major milestones in the organization's history, including new office openings, community events, leadership gatherings, educational initiatives, and anniversary celebrations.

Organizers also announced that the documentary will include appearances and interviews from a variety of notable individuals connected to mental health advocacy, public service, media, education, and community leadership. Discussions are currently underway with state and local elected officials, prominent mental health advocates, community leaders, influencers, and public figures to participate in the project.

While the documentary's primary focus will remain on the story of the One Life Project and the people who helped build it, these additional perspectives are intended to highlight the broader importance of youth mental health awareness and suicide prevention efforts.

As part of the production, the One Life Project has also begun development of an original soundtrack song titled Never Alone, which will be featured throughout the documentary and serve as the centerpiece of its emotional closing montage. Inspired by themes of resilience, healing, hope, and connection, the song is expected to be released in conjunction with the documentary premiere.

The One Life Project is also inviting members of its extended community to participate in the project.

As the One Life Project approaches ten years of service, advocacy, education, and support, Never Alone aims to honor the people, experiences, and moments that helped shape the organization's first decade while inspiring future generations to continue the work.
